Luxury Grooming

Grooming is an important part of pet care and contributes to your pet’s overall health and wellbeing.

All Breeds require regular grooming; how much depends on the breed, age and health of your pet.

At Richmond Rascals, we offer a range of grooming services, each one tailored to your dog’s specific needs. Our expert groomers can give your puppy its first bath. Alternatively, they can focus on specific areas such as the eyes, ears or coat. We also offer the ultimate in grooming: the WOW!! Factor, where there are no limits … a makeover for your dog.

Luxury Grooming Treatments

Puppy’s First Bath: helping your puppy become used to being pampered; includes nail trim and ear clean.

De-Matting and Hand Stripping: improve the look of your dog’s coat, removing awkward knots and tangles.

Sparkling Clean: keep your pet clean between grooming sessions with a wash and blow-dry.

Bikini Trim & Bottoms Up: keep your pet clean with a close trim underneath.

The WOW !! Factor: creative grooming … no rules, no limits … the whole works, from nail polish to hair dye.

Special Treatments

Bright Eyes: a gentle cleansing and trim around the eye area.

Fresh Ears: your pet’s ears are expertly cleaned, plucked and deodorised.

Bright Smile: a thorough brushing to brighten the teeth and freshen the breath.

Perfect paws: a professional pet pedicure by our expertly trained staff.

Doggy express: the unglamorous but often necessary business of “expressing” your pet’s anal glands.

Regular grooming has many benefits. In addition to maintaining the general cleanliness of your dog, there is: a lower risk of your pet developing thrush, scratches and other skin problems; reducing infestation from external parasites on the skin; an opportunity to check for cuts, heat, swelling, lameness or changes in temperament … all of which could be indicative of illness.

Nearly every dog (and cat) sheds – regardless of their age or breed. Some breeds have more hair or thicker undercoats and will shed in higher quantities … but virtually all dogs and cats will shed hair. Some dogs such as Poodles shed very little and require grooming by a professional every 6 to 8 weeks.

Animals shed to get rid of old, damaged or extra hair. Animals grow a heavy coat in the winter to help insulate themselves and then shed the extra hair in the summer. However, dogs will also shed broken or damaged hair, and if their skin is irritated from conditions such as allergies, they will also shed excessively. Pets that are groomed on a regular basis from a young age are happier, healthier and more tolerant of the grooming process.
